An old country house beautifully restored by two former doctors in love with Cotswolds and Luberon
Bought in 1993, the house has been restored over a period of 3 years, while the garden is still a work in progress, with new additions every year: Nature does the most of the work in scattering here and there lucust, walnut and oak trees, which are native of the area and intertwine the vineyards with darker, taller sposts that mark the landscape.
Among the trees we planted, the Pines to enrich the air with their balsams, the Lindens which in June fill the nights with their sweet, overwhelming scent, the Catalpas for the shade their huge leaves provide, and then what makes the orchard reach: Apricot, Apple, Plum, Cherry and above all Hazelnut trees.
In marking the garden area with focal as well useful spots like terraces, paved areas and garden rooms local stone has been used, the same that had been already used to built the house pillars; it comes mainly from the caves in Cortemilia, a small village in the hills between Canelli and Alba: it comes in natural forms out of the tuff, and it's cut in brick-like shape or left in its smooth form.
Having done all this work, it's seemed to us a pity not to have anybody enjoing the place, so in Summer 2015 we opened one half of the house as Bed & Breakfast facilities, presently offering three rooms and two bathrooms, maybe four rooms by the next years, in order to be able to host two whole families with kids!
